Welcome to the Run From The Sun 2008 (the Trans-Siberian Challenge). We depart on 12th July 2008, leaving the UK and heading across Europe into the former Soviet Union, and into Russia to watch the total Solar eclipse on the 1st August.Taking Julian Nowill's Plymouth Dakar Challenge as our inspiration ('No money, no sense, no worries!'), we will pilot a rag tag fleet of entirely inappropriate age-ravaged cars on a journey of over six thousand miles, crossing Europe, Belarus, Ukraine and into Russia and hoping to surpass any difficulties and corrupt police that we may face. Remember that it’s not the taking part that counts, its getting to the end that matters!

There will be an entry fee, but this is just to cover the costs for visas (arranging letter of invitation for Russia, cost of visa plus any postage charges and for someone to go to the embassy to get the visas), cost of stickers, launch party, cost for a ½ day trip to Chernobyl nuclear reactor etc.. The full price (rest assured it will be a bargain)will be announced when we have all the costs worked out.
